Wings Over Dallas on October 4, 2024, unfolded as an extraordinary celebration of aviation history. The event was set against the authentic backdrop of the organization’s main headquarters in Dallas. The central hub was the spacious hangar. Visitors gathered there to explore historic aircraft up close and immerse themselves in the rich atmosphere of the era. The majestic B-29 FIFI dominated the flight line. She is one of only two airworthy Superfortresses in the world. Her presence drew long lines of eager visitors. When she took to the skies, the deep roar of her four radial engines echoed powerfully, commanding awe from the crowd. Alongside FIFI, other legendary warbirds filled the air with dynamic displays. Fighters like the P-51 Mustang and a striking P-40 Warhawk, painted in the iconic American Volunteer Group “Flying Tigers” colors, thrilled audiences with high-speed passes and precise aerobatics.

Inside the hangar, aviation enthusiasts and families were drawn to interactive experiences. These deepened the connection to World War II history. A fully immersive C-47 flight simulator offered guests a hands-on taste of piloting one of the war’s most vital transport planes. Numerous reenactors, dressed in authentic uniforms representing both Allied and Axis forces, surrounded the aircraft, enhancing the living history atmosphere. They were equipped with an impressive array of period weapons, including M1 Garands, Thompson submachine guns, Mauser rifles, and MP40s. They engaged visitors with demonstrations and personal stories. This created a vivid, tangible link to the past.
