A proposed advanced version, the B7A3 was to be powered by the more powerful Nakajima Homare 23 engine and possibly feature reinforced airframe elements for land-based operation. This version never progressed beyond the design phase due to Japan’s deteriorating wartime situation and the end of aircraft production. Status: Design only; no prototypes built.
